DFA October 2021 News

Hi to All…Happy October…Happy Halloween!!!

CLUB NEWS:

For anyone who needs to renew their USFA membership, please choose Access Membership, $25.
With this membership you may fence in all local tournaments, (including DFA’s!).

If you are not planning on competing but would like to have a USFA membership, please choose Non-Competitive Membership, $10.

The Palm Desert Golf Cart Parade, set for Sunday, October 31, (Halloween), has been cancelled.
DFA was going to be a participant in the parade, however, we’ll have to wait for next year.

TOURNAMENTS:

DFA held a Mini Saber tournament on Saturday, September 18 and a Mini Epee tournament on Saturday, September 25.

We had 8 fencers for saber and 8 fencers for epee. Both tournaments were “E” rated events which means the fencer who takes first place earns their E2021 rating in that weapon.

Peter Zappia earned his E2021 rating in Saber and then brother Paul earned his E2021 rating in Epee!

We also had DFA fencers who made their tournament debut. In Saber, Peter Zappia and Ian Amick, and in Epee, Collin Amick, Gary Kautz and Jeff McLaughlin. We had quite the turnout of fencing brothers!! Photos and stories are posted on the DFA website.

Wishing everyone a wonderful October and a fun and spooky Halloween!!!

Leslie, the fencing coach
